Consulting in Risk and Opportunity Management is based on the Owner’s experience from many project reviews and risk reviews supervised and from development of respective guidelines therefore.
Identifying Risks in Projects is frequently discussed and efforts are made to keep them under control. However, focus must be put on risks at an early date in order to have a chance of controlling them. Therefore a risk register shall be implemented early that features mitigation approaches, quantifies the cost of these approaches and tracks their results. As risks may vary along the project lifetime, the risk register must be kept up-to-date and reviewed in appropriate terms.
Equally important as risks are opportunities. Allocating opportunities is however even more difficult than looking at risks and it requires experience and imagination, involving respective tools like e.g. brainstorming to identify them. And also opportunities should be systematically listed and regularly followed up in order not to miss them.
